RAF Halton and Wendover Urban Race: 20 January 2018

A rare opportunity to explore the barracks & parade grounds of the RAF base and the stunning grounds of Halton House.

Thames Valley Orienteering Club invites you to try an off-trail run or walk with a difference – it’s a race with no set route!

There’ll be several courses, from 1.4k up to 8k, and no experience is necessary. You’ll receive a special map showing your course, consisting of a series of checkpoints. At each point around the base, you’ll find a marker flag. The challenge is to race between the checkpoints, using your map to choose your route between them and registering them with an electronic timing chip. They might be around the barracks, parade grounds or stationary planes of the RAF base, the stunning grounds of Halton House or the intricate streets and alleys of the Princess Mary Gate Estate. When you return to the finish, your timing chip will be downloaded and you’ll receive a print out of your result and splits.

There’s no pressure to run, if you just want to come for a jog or walk around a course. You can be as competitive as you want – its also a great family activity as we’ll have shorter courses for children and families.

Date and time: Saturday 20 January – turn up any time from 10am to 11.30am and enter on the day.

Cost : £11.50 for the long courses and £6 for the short courses, including a special map to keep as a souvenir, use of a timing chip and a print out of your result and splits at the finish.
