Discover and Make at Wycombe Museum: 10 February 2018

Learn about electricity circuits and wire your own working model that will light up and flash with a flick of a switch.

Mixed Crafts

Two Sessions:
Session 1 (ages 5+): 10:00am – 11:15am

Explore a range of materials and techniques and develop your own ideas with help from our fantastic tutors.

Kids Hour: Making Movies Together

This Kids Hour is dedicated to exploring creativity through movie making for both kids and parents. We’ll start with brainstorming ideas. Then kids will practise basic camera techniques and shoot footage using iPad Pro. They’ll finish by creating a professional movie trailer with iMovie. Kids can bring their own iPad or we’ll provide one. Recommended for ages 6 to 12.

Date and time: Saturday 10 February between 10am – 11am

Kids Hour: Sphero Maze Challenge

Kids Hour is designed to spark imagination and creativity through fun, hands-on projects. Kids will explore coding with Sphero robots by programming simple movements, loops and more. Then they’ll design a maze and navigate their robot through the obstacles. Kids can take their own iPad and Sphero Sprk+ robot, or there will be one provide. Recommended for ages 6 to 12

Events at The Roald Dahl Museum: 10 & 11 February 2018

Daily Beasts

Each day at The Roald Dahl Museum they will be making a beast in the Crafty Kitchen. Help complete a crodswoggling creature inspired by the beasts in Roald Dahl’s books.

Date and times: 10 – 18 February 11am to 5pm

Cost: Free with Museum entry

Age: suitable for 4+ years. Under 14s will need to be accompanied and supervised by an adult.

From Bag to Beast

Artist Megan Dowsett will help you transform an ordinary plastic bag into one of Roald Dahl’s naughtiest beasts. Use the magic of heat to create your own unique, colourful material.

Date and times: Saturday 10 February at 2.00pm, 1.30pm and 3.00pm

Cost: £3 per participant. Adults are welcome to pay to make their own. Price does not include Museum entry which you will also need to book to take part in the workshop.

Age: suitable for 4+ years. Under 8s will need to be accompanied by an adult (no more than two non-participating adults will be allowed in the room per group).

Discover Dahl’s archives

Family archive experience for older children and adults.
A unique behind-the-scenes peek into our archive store, which houses Roald Dahl’s original letters and manuscriptsOur Collections team will introduce you to the highlights of the archive, housed in the village where Roald Dahl lived and wrote for 36 years.

Times: Saturday 10 February a 12.00pm, 2.00pm and 3.00pm

Cost: £1.50 per participant, adults and children. Price does not include Museum entry which you will also need to book to take part in the workshop.

Age: recommended for 8 years to adult. Under 8s will need to be accompanied by an adult. Any participants under 8 will still be charged.

A Beastly Party

Celebrate 35 years of Dirty Beasts with Beastie Bingo, Beetle Drive and other party games.

Date and Times: Sunday 11 February11.30am, 12.30pm, 2.00pm and 3.00pm

Cost: £3 per participant. Price does not include Museum entry which you will also need to book to take part in the workshop.

Age: recommended for 4+ years. Under 8s will need to be accompanied by an paying adult.

The LEGO Ninjago Movie

In this big-screen Ninjago adventure, the battle for Ninjago City calls to action young Lloyd, aka the Green Ninja, along with his friends, who are all secret warriors and LEGO Master Builders. Led by kung fu master Wu, as wise-cracking as he is wise, they must defeat evil warlord Garmadon, the Worst Guy Ever, who also happens to be Lloyd’s dad. Half-term trail: Women of Stowe10 – 11 February 2018

From a warrior knight to an all-powerful goddess, pick up a guide and discover the hidden stories of women at Stowe.

Grab your coat and boots and head to Stowe and take part in this self led trail, which is available from the New Inn welcome centre and will run throughout the whole of the February half term.

This is a family friendly activity, children welcome. Dogs on leads are welcome.

Snowdrop Walk, Cliveden National Trust

If you fancy getting out and about this weekend with the little ones, why not head over to Cliveden National Trust for their self-led snow drop walk. Follow the snowdrops around the estate, the best clusters are expected at Blenheim Lawn, Stable Bank and Ilex Grove. Pick up your trail sheet from the information centre. This trail is free of charge (normal admission to Cliveden applies, free entry with National Trust membership).

Highway Rat Activity Trail at Wendover Woods: 10 – 11 February 2018

The Highway Rat is the latest Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler book to be brought to life at Wendover Woods.

Follow the panels, complete activities and interact with the forest as you head on a journey with The Highway Rat and all the characters from the story!

Snowdrop Walk at West Wycombe Park

Organised by Child Bereavement UK, The Snowdrop Walk is a special day to remember the babies and children who have died and the children who are bereaved each year.
The park is available for you to walk around at your leisure with the addition of a children’s Treasure Hunt where they receive a fun-filled goody bag at the end.
Snowdrops are available for purchase on the day and charity staff and volunteers will be on hand to help with the planting at The Temple of Venus within the park.
Hot food and refreshments will be available from West Wycombe Village Hall at the end of the walk, where some extra children’s activities will also be taking place including colouring and puzzle building.

Booking isn’t required, please just turn up on the day between 11am and 4pm.

Aylesbury Junior Park Run is a 2k run for juniors only (4-14 year olds) event that is held every Sunday at 9am.
