What’s on this weekend for families in Bucks, 6 – 7 January 2018

Happy New Year and welcome to our first weekend feature of the year. Here’s a guide of activities happening across Bucks this weekend

 

Christmas Toy Box at Bucks County Museum: 6  January 2018

This special toy exhibition for the Christmas holidays has lots of things to play with for kids of all ages and adults too. The whole family can try their hand at Giant Jenga, and younger children will enjoy the brilliant Brio train set, glove puppet theatre and crates of Duplo bricks to build something from their imaginations.

As well as toys and games to play with there are toys and games to bring back memories of childhood for many adults. On display are Dinky cars, LEGO, Britains zoo animals and Pelham Puppets as well as the famous Matchbox Tracy Island model from Thunderbirds. The exhibition looks at themes such as dolls, construction toys, transport toys and film and TV tie ins including some from Doctor Who and Star Wars which are as popular as ever today.

Highway Rat Activity Trail at Wendover Woods: 6 – 7 January 2018

The Highway Rat is the latest Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler book to be brought to life at Wendover Woods.

Follow the panels, complete activities and interact with the forest as you head on a journey with The Highway Rat and all the characters from the story!

Winter Weekends at Waddesdon Manor: 6 -7 January 2018

This January to March explore the gardens that are full of stark beauty at this time of year, with early spring flowers such as snowdrops and winter aconities. It’s a perfect time to be inspired and reconnect with nature, spend time with friends and family or cosy up with a delicious hot chocolate.

Make a Monster Cave at The Roald Dahl Museum: 6 – 7 January 2018

Head to the Upper Babbling Room and help to turn this space into a beasts’ lair!  Build and decorate a cardboard den, and crawl inside with your family as you pretend to be a buzzwangling beast.

Location: The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre, 81-83 High Street, Great Missenden HP16 0A

Cost: Free with museum entry

Suitable for 4+ years. Under 8s will need to be accompanied by an adult.

AYLESBURY JUNIOR PARK RUN: 7 January 2018 

Aylesbury Junior Park Run is a 2k run for juniors only (4-14 year olds) event that is held every Sunday at 9am.

Location: Meadowcroft Open Space, Meadowcroft Road, Aylesbury, Bucks, HP19 9HH.
