GREEN DRAGON ECO FARM: STORIES IN THE STARS – ‘OUR MARVELLOUS MOON’: 27 January 2018

Calling all budding astronomers – Spend an evening studying the skies above Green Dragon with the help of local enthusiasts and hear about our solar system, both fact and fiction!

This fun event provides a beginner’s guide to astronomy led by local enthusiasts from UK Astronomy, based in Aylesbury. As there is very little light pollution in the skies above Green Dragon, the site is an ideal spot from which to observe our solar system.  Using telescopes and the naked eye, visitors will learn about the main stars and constellations and the stories and legends associated. They will also have a NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador coming to talk about the Moon, including moon phases, its orbit, and what causes super moons.

This event is for families and visitors of all ages, from beginners to enthusiasts, who are welcome to bring their own scopes. If cloudy, UK Astronomy will set up their planetarium software in the Eco Centre events room in order to show visitors around a virtual sky of that very night and give them the opportunity to try out equipment and learn about all things ‘space’!

This event looks absolutely incredible so make sure you book in advance to avoid disappointment.

Costs £9.50 per person and includes refreshments – ‘Farm to fork’ sausage with homemade chutney in a bun followed by homemade traybake.

Location: Green Dragon Eco Farm,, Claydon Lane, Hogshaw. MK18 3LA
