Here at Little Ankle Biters we are only too aware of how quickly the week goes by and how precious weekends are with our families, to help we have put together our top picks of things going on this weekend in and around Bucks.

COLOURSCAPE AT WADDESDON

During spring 2018 an extraordinary experience of colour and light lands again on the Waddesdon lawns. A brand-new Colourscape with long sensational views will be installed on the Aviary glade.

HOLIDAY FUN ON THE FARM AT GREEN DRAGON ECO FARM

Th weather is now warm enough for the Green Dragon babies to leave the Animal Barn where they were born and venture outside. As usual there will be a full programme of animal encounters, from the cute and the cuddly to the cold blooded. And for those visitors who want something special there are exclusive, hands-on experiences led by one of the trained livestock team where visitors can get close to the animals. These popular 30 minute sessions can be tailor-made to suit visitors of all ages and need to be booked in advance.

YOUNG FARMER’S GREAT ESCAPE AT ODDS FARM PARK, WOOBURN COMMON

2 & 3 June 2018

Calling all young farmers… Don’t miss the return of the exciting Seasonal Animal Demonstrations, plus lots of new traditional farming activities this May Half Term at Odds Farm Park. Activities include:

  • Kid goat bottle feeding
  • Join in with egg collecting and learn about where the eggs come from
  • Watch the hungry piggies being fed at Piggies Tea Time
  • Take the mini Land Rovers for a spin
  • Have a go at Welly Wanging
  • Jump aboard the Tractor & Trailer Ride.

Plus there will be all the usual fun on the farm, including; animal feeding, small animal petting, the amazing new water play attraction, the outside children’s play area, an inside soft play climbing frame and slides, indoor family restaurant, picnic areas, and more.

GAME OF CLUES: MURDER MYSTERY at Cliveden National Trust

The year is 1853 and, whilst the Sutherland’s are away visiting their London abode, Cliveden’s head butler has turned up dead on the estate. Mr Butter, a rather unsavory character, was discovered fallen off his chair and smelling of whiskey; but how did he get there…?

CHILTERN CRAFTS AND WILDLIFE AT WYCOMBE MUSEUM

A family fun day including creepy crawly handling,local traditional craft demonstrations and an opportunity to try your hand at the ancient art of copper smelting.

OPEN DAY FREE VISIT+RIDES AT CHINNOR RAILWAY

The volunteers would again like to invite you and your friends and family to come along to Chinnor Railway Station and Princes Risborough Platform 4 between 10.00 and 15.00 hours on Saturday 2 June to see behind the scenes and see what the Railway offers our visitors and the local community.

AT CHINNOR 
Please visit the Welcome Marquee near the main entrance at Chinnor station to see displays on the Railway’s history and aims, its future hopes and plans for Aston Rowant, and to learn about volunteer opportunities. Please walk around the station and don’t forget to visit the Restoration and Engineering Centre and view the exhibits in the yard, plus you’ll meet the volunteers who look after the trains and run the Railway. Take a free short ride down the line in our vintage diesel ‘bubblecar’, enjoy home-made cakes in the buffet or try a Real Ale in the bar, and browse for gifts and books in the shop.

AT PRINCES RISBOROUGH 
Go to Platform 4 which has been rebuilt on the far side of the station and is being made ready to receive our first passenger trains. See displays and chat to volunteers who improve and maintain the track and who install and maintain the signals. View the resident diesel locomotive 08825 and the Coles Rail Crane. Visit the largest remaining Great Western signal box and see the restoration work in progress.
