With the heatwave set to intensify this week and the met office advising us to stay out of the sun during the midday hours we thought we would share some indoor attractions you can visit with the kids in Bucks
Pop down the bowling lane
I love taking the kiddies bowling, it’s a fantastic thing to do whatever the weather. They love the music, lights and excitement of the bowling alley, and if I’m honest I like it a bit too much too! Make sure you book before you go as they tend to get busy on wet days. Here are your options for Buckinghamshire bowling . Hollywood Bowl High Wycombe, Hollywood Bowl Xscape Milton Keynes, Rogue Bowling Aylesbury.
Catch a children’s movie
There’s not much that beats the cinema with the little ones. And you get to sit in a dark room with ice cream and your feet up, perfect! Lots of cinemas run kids clubs on weekend mornings where you can grab cheap tickets, and you’ll even find some that offer special mid week mum and baby screenings. If you’re looking for a cinema near you why not check out one of these in Bucks and the surrounding areas; Odeon Aylesbury, Cineworld High Wycombe, Odeon Milton Keynes Stadium, Everyman Cinema Gerrards Cross, Empire Cinema High Wycombe, Cineworld Xscape Milton Keynes.
Armbands at the ready…
If the weather is boiling outside then what’s more refreshing than a dip in the pool? We’re spoilt for choice in Bucks with loads of great pools most with slides, children’s areas, and some with waves and more. Here are our recommendations for the local area; Gulliver’s Indoor Splash Zone Milton Keynes, Swan Pool & Leisure Centre Buckingham, The Chiltern Pools Amersham, Chesham Leisure Centre, Chalfont Leisure Centre, Aqua Vale Swimming & Fitness Centre Aylesbury & just outside Bucks Magnet Leisure Centre Maidenhead.
A soft play kinda day
Great for getting little ones to let off some steam, and usually enabling you to grab a coffee and cake at the same time. Soft plays are a godsend for parents, especially on wet days. Here are our top picks in Buckinghamshire; Play Train Activity Centre High Wycombe, Safari MK Soft Play, Zoomania Aylesbury, 360 Play Milton Keynes, PK Kids Zone Buckingham, Wyevale Garden Centres – Marlow / Woburn Sands / World’s End, Thé Stay and Play Chesham, Junglemania Bourne End.
Get creative at a pottery barn
All of the fun and mess, with none of the tidying up! Children will love expressing themselves in a pottery session and getting to take home their creation at the end. Here are some options in the local area; Bojangles Creative Café Little Chalfont, Chiki Ceramiki Milton Keynes.
Take to the trampolines
Why not head to a trampoline park? A great workout for the little ones, and you, we have some fantastic trampoline centres locally which cater for all ages and are a perfect treat. Here are some options we think you might like; Bounce Indoor Trampoline Park Milton Keynes, TopJump Trampoline Park Milton Keynes, Rush Trampoline Park High Wycombe & just outside Bucks Jump In Slough.
For the Adrenaline Junkies
If you have a mini explorer or speed demon on your hands, then why not try one of these fun and adventurous activities for children in Buckinghamshire? ; Gulliver’s Nerf Zone Milton Keynes, SFear Indoor High Rope Challenge Milton Keynes, The Climb at Chiltern Pools Amersham, Karting at Daytona Milton Keynes, iFly Indoor Sky Diving Xscape Milton Keynes, Rogue Racing Karting Aylesbury, Big Rock Climbing Centre Milton Keynes, Formula Fast Indoor Karting Milton Keynes.
Take a Step Back in Time at a Local Museum
As well as being a great place for families, children will learn loads on a trip to a local museum. Buckinghamshire has lots of them, here are some suggestions for a day trip; Milton Keynes Museum, Wycombe Museum, Buckingham Old Gaol Museum, Roald Dahl Museum & Story Centre, Amersham Museum, Bucks County Museum.
Xscape Milton Keynes
Xscape has to be, in our opinion, the ultimate place to pass the day in Buckinghamshire. There’s so much fun here under one roof you’ll struggle to choose what to do. Here’s a snippet on what’s going on;
- Cineworld Milton Keynes with the UK’s first superscreen and 4DX cinema, you’ll also find Cinebabies and autism-friendly screenings.
- Hollywood Bowl and arcades
- iFly Indoor Sky Diving
- Snozone – indoor skiing and snowboarding on real snow
- Plenty of family friendly places to eat and drink.
