The Beaconsfield Festival of Lights returns to the New Town on Wednesday 13 December from 6.00 – 9.00pm. The main roads in the New Town will be closed from 5.30 – 9.00pm and stalls and attractions will be set up on the streets.
This year you can expect; Santa in his sleigh, Parade of lanterns by local school children, fairground rides and stalls, laser light show, musical performances on 2 stages, bouncy castles, fire engine, BBQ and food stalls.
Every year one of the highlights of the event is the procession of lanterns. The lanterns are made and decorated by the children themselves with the support of their schools. Over 400 children and their parents join the parade. The parade starts from Station Road and follows the main road through the town, over the railway bridge to the Council Green. The parade normally includes Santa on his sleigh, a fire engine (subject to availability), brass bands and local dignitaries. Every year we choose a different them to allow children the freedom to express their creativity when they decorate their lanterns. The theme for 2017 is Beaconsfield in the world. The world in Beaconsfield.
